Aidas Svazas is the designer and producer of Aidas cartridges, based in Lithuania. Aidas’ experience in producing cartridges extends back to the late ’90s. Aidas started repairing and improving phono cartridges with more precision and quality than that of original cartridges from other well-known manufacturers.

This practice led to the development of the first Aidas cartridge—the AS-1—in 2010. Special techniques were developed that allowed the company to improve the suspension, core geometry, and coils of existing cartridges. The result was better tracking and ultimately better sonic qualities. Sonics have been improved after each new model, and the latest MC cartridge line up, dating from 2020, is exceptional in terms of dynamic range, precision, and low distortion.

All Aidas cartridges share the same unique generator and double-suspension technology, but differ in body and coil materials. These differences result in four distinct Aidas MC cartridge series:

Aidas Gold series cartridges are the top performers in the Aidas cartridge portfolio.

As with all Aidas cartridge lines, Aidas Gold Series’ unique sonic signatures derive from their use of diverse body materials and the addition of 24kt pure gold coils. Gold plated coils do sound very natural and detailed, pure gold even more so.

Aidas Gold cartridges come with 2 different bodies: Tru-stone Blue River Agate and Mammoth tusk body. Tru-stone is a uniquely beautiful natural/artificial amalgam consisting of more than 85% actual stone.

Aidas Mammoth Gold is the newest, most advanced of the Aidas cartridges. The cartridge’s body is made with the ivory from 21,000 year old Siberian wooly mammoth tusks. Mammoth is the best and most unique material Aidas has found for their top cartridges. Better than stone, better than exotic wood or metals.

Mammoth tusk has very unique properties, sound-wise. It was even compared to other types of bone / horn material and was found to be far superior. It is an extremely strong material, and it dampens unwanted vibrations perfectly.

Gold PL cartridges are the penultimate level in the Aidas cartridges portfolio.

Their unique sonic profile derives from their use special body materials and gold-plated copper coils. Because phono cartridges are very sensitive to vibrations, body materials’ individual dampening properties play an important role in determining their sound. Different coil material makes an even larger impact on final sound reproduction. Gold-plated coils sound more natural and detailed.

The Aidas Gold PL cartridges come with 3 different bodies: Tru-Stone gold web, Black African Gabon wood, and Brazilian Purpleheart wood. ​​The bodies are slightly different in mass and damping properties which makes them unique products, both wood types have excellent sonic properties. Tru-stone Gold web is a uniquely beautiful black natural and artificial stone amalgam with gold powder inserted in a form of a web. Tru Stone consists of more than 85% actual stone.

MALACHITE AIDAS SILVER

All silver plated cartridges have Namiki boron cantilever with Micro Ridge stylus and pure silver plated copper coil. Silver is well known for its extremely low resistivity and outstanding reproduction of audio spectrum up to a very high frequency band.

All Aidas Copper series cartridges share form factors and electrical properties.

Their primary differences are in the materials used in constructing the body, materials which play a critical role in determining each model’s dampening properties, giving each a unique sonic profile.

The Aidas Durawood (and Durawood Bee) phono cartridges have a beautiful, multicolor (or grey and mixed grey) Durawood body. Durawood is DIN 7707 compliant and is said to have similar qualities as Panzerholz—one of the strongest and hardest wood composites in existence.​​ Wood composite (Green) is the material consisting of wood dust and a special bonding resin. The material is stone-hard with high level of chemical- and moisture-resistance.
