Reclocking and interface conversion in a dedicated component

The Innuos Next-Gen FLOW separates the final digital-output stage from the computer, server or streamer that supplies it. It accepts USB audio from any compatible source, regenerates that signal around one high-precision timing reference, and sends it onward through USB or an optional interface module. It is designed as a natural companion to ZEN Next-Gen, ZENith Next-Gen and STATEMENT, but its USB input does not limit it to Innuos sources.

At the center is a 3ppb oven-controlled crystal oscillator used as the master reference for the communication path. Moving reclocking into a quiet dedicated enclosure, closer to the receiving DAC interface, reduces the number of independent clocks and electrically busy circuits involved in the final handoff. The standard function is therefore more than a decorative USB pass-through.

The power supply uses a 300VA multifilar transformer, ARC6 active rectification and independent CX regulation for the OCXO and output-module areas. A CNC-machined aluminum chassis provides shielding and mechanical control consistent with the Next-Gen source components. This combination targets power noise, clock stability and vibration as related parts of one output-stage design.

Optional modules extend FLOW into a digital-to-digital converter. Innuos identifies native interface options for DACs from MSB, CH Precision, EMM Labs and Soulution, with I2S and SPDIF choices also described for the platform. A dedicated DAC module has been announced separately. Module availability and compatibility must be checked for the exact DAC and firmware before purchase; a proprietary socket is a poor place for optimism.
