A floorstanding SourcePoint built around three-way clarity

The MoFi SourcePoint 888 is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker developed by Andrew Jones. Its upper section places a 1.25-inch soft-dome tweeter at the center of an 8-inch paper-cone midrange, creating a concentric source through the vocal range and treble. Two additional 8-inch paper-cone woofers handle bass below 130 Hz, giving each frequency band a dedicated job instead of asking one large driver to cover the entire lower spectrum.

The coaxial geometry aligns the midrange and tweeter around a common acoustic center. That arrangement supports even dispersion and a stable stereo image as the listener moves across a practical seating area. The dedicated woofers increase radiating area and excursion for the bottom octaves, while the vented enclosure extends the system response to a specified 32 Hz. The midrange-to-tweeter crossover occurs at 1.6 kHz.

Cabinet construction uses thick MDF panels and internal bracing to resist vibration. A sculpted, multi-faceted baffle breaks up the flat edges that can reflect sound from the drivers and interfere with direct output. Furniture-grade real-wood veneer is book-matched across the stereo pair. Satin Walnut, Black Ash and White Ash finishes allow the 42-inch-tall enclosure to fit different interiors, and magnetic grilles preserve the baffle shape without visible fasteners.

The SourcePoint 888 is rated at 87 dB sensitivity, with 6-ohm nominal and 4.5-ohm minimum impedance. Maximum power input is 200 watts. Those figures leave a broad choice of integrated and separate amplifiers, but room size, listening level and amplifier current capability still matter. A nominal wattage figure by itself does not guarantee control or useful headroom.
