A carefully controlled path from groove to system

The MoFi UltraDeck concentrates on the mechanical fundamentals that determine what a cartridge can retrieve from a record. Its belt-drive layout uses an isolated 300 RPM AC synchronous motor and a stepped Delrin pulley for 33⅓ and 45 RPM playback. Decoupling materials limit motor vibration before it can travel into the plinth, platter and stylus, while the simple two-position pulley keeps speed selection direct and reliable.

The 1.3-inch Delrin platter weighs 6.8 pounds. Delrin's mechanical properties make it a useful interface for a vinyl record, helping unwanted energy move away from the stylus without requiring a separate mat. A hardened-steel inverted bearing combines steel, bronze and sapphire elements for quiet, stable rotation. The plinth adds three aluminum plates to an MDF body in a constrained-layer arrangement, increasing mass while breaking up resonance paths that could color playback.

MoFi's 10-inch Ultra tonearm is made in the United States and uses a straight aluminum tube with gimbaled bearings. Low-friction movement in both planes allows the stylus to follow warps and modulation without unnecessary resistance. Cardas wiring runs from the headshell leads to gold-plated RCA outputs, preserving continuity through the arm. The 5-to-10-gram cartridge range accommodates many popular moving-magnet and moving-coil designs.

Harmonic Resolution Systems developed the height-adjustable anti-vibration feet beneath the deck. They reduce the effect of footfalls, loudspeaker energy and equipment-rack movement while also making accurate leveling straightforward. MoFi specifies wow and flutter between 0.017 and 0.025 percent and a 74 dB signal-to-noise ratio.

Command Performance AV can match the UltraDeck to a cartridge and phono stage, then handle alignment, tracking force, leveling and speed confirmation. Those details are not optional polish: they determine whether the stylus, tonearm and groove geometry work together as the designers intended.
