Flagship circuit priorities in a focused single-input design

The MoFi UltraPhono Pro adapts the core architecture of the MasterPhono to a simpler all-analog phono stage. It is built around one single-ended RCA input, making it a practical choice for a system with one turntable and cartridge. The simplification does not eliminate the adjustments that matter: gain and cartridge loading sit on the front panel, where they can be changed quickly and repeated accurately.

The signal path uses fully discrete J-FET and MOSFET input and output stages. Passive RIAA equalization operates without feedback, with film-foil components selected to hold the equalization curve within ±0.05 dB. A seven-stage regulated balanced power supply provides separate layers of filtering and regulation before power reaches the low-level audio circuitry. These choices address the central challenge of any phono preamplifier: applying substantial gain and frequency correction without burying the cartridge signal in circuit noise.

Three gain settings are available through each output type. The RCA outputs provide 40, 52 and 65 dB, while the balanced outputs provide 46, 58 and 71 dB. Loading selections of 100, 300 and 500 ohms, 1 kilohm and 47 kilohms cover common moving-coil and moving-magnet requirements. Practical controls for mono, subsonic filtering, mute and dim allow the listener to deal with real records, including warped discs and mono pressings, without rearranging the system.

Frequency response extends from 10 Hz to 50 kHz within ±0.20 dB, and maximum output is specified at 10 volts RMS at one percent distortion. The rigid steel frame and brushed-aluminum panels provide mechanical support without turning the enclosure into needless ornament.

Command Performance AV can compare gain and loading settings with the chosen cartridge, check grounding and noise, and decide whether balanced or unbalanced connection is appropriate for the system. The result should be quieter, more consistent vinyl playback—not a front panel full of settings left unexplained.
