A state-of-the-art Danish moving-coil cartridge

Gryphon created Black Diamond DLC, its first phono cartridge, with Ortofon and the Danish Technological Institute. Because precision matters, every material has a clear purpose. While the Selective Laser Melted titanium body controls resonance, the Diamond-Like Carbon coating adds rigidity. When the stylus follows a record groove, the diamond cantilever responds quickly.

Although the structure is rigid, the revised suspension supports accurate tracking. Moreover, the Ortofon Replicant 100 stylus retrieves fine detail. In addition, gold-plated copper coil wire protects weak signals. As a result, the six-layer coil maintains stable performance. Therefore, Black Diamond DLC is ready for high-resolution analog systems.

Specifically, the 2 × 84 windings per channel create a balanced generator. Additionally, the generator layout supports accurate channel balance. Similarly, revised front and rear elastomer bearings support stable motion. At the same time, optimized generator-system tension keeps the cantilever controlled. In particular, the resonance-controlled body helps preserve subtle information. For example, these refinements support demanding analog systems. Finally, Danish manufacture brings the entire design together. Consequently, the cartridge unites control, resolution and consistency. Next, the suspension maintains precise movement. Likewise, the selected materials limit unwanted vibration. In other words, each part serves the musical signal. Above all, the design favors clean information retrieval. Overall, Black Diamond DLC combines precision with durability.
