Ten large radiating elements, one coherent stereo pair

The MoFi SourcePoint V10 Master Edition expands Andrew Jones's concentric-driver concept into a large three-way floorstander. Each cabinet contains a 10-inch paper-cone midrange with a 1.25-inch soft-dome tweeter mounted at its center, two powered 10-inch woofers and two rear-firing 10-inch passive radiators. Across a stereo pair, that produces the “V10” total of ten 10-inch radiating elements.

The concentric midrange and tweeter share a common acoustic center, supporting consistent dispersion and stable imaging across the crossover region. Dedicated woofers relieve that driver of deep-bass duty, allowing it to concentrate on the midrange while the passive radiators extend low-frequency response without a conventional port. MoFi specifies a 27 Hz to 30 kHz frequency range, with crossovers at 130 Hz and 1.4 kHz.

The Master Edition crossover uses polypropylene film capacitors, metallized-film resistors and air-core inductors. Rear controls permit adjustment of tweeter level to suit room acoustics and listening distance. That facility is useful because reflective rooms, heavy furnishings and different toe-in angles can change the perceived upper-frequency balance even when the loudspeaker itself has not changed.

A stiffened, multi-chambered cabinet separates the driver sections and controls internal pressure. The multi-faceted front baffle reduces edge diffraction around the drivers, while book-matched Walnut and Black Ash veneers finish the 160-pound enclosure. Magnetic grilles allow a cleaner appearance when the speakers are not being used for focused listening.

Sensitivity is a relatively high 91 dB, and nominal impedance is 6 ohms with a 4.5-ohm minimum. Those specifications make the V10 less demanding than its size might suggest, though control of four active 10-inch cones per pair still rewards a capable amplifier. Command Performance AV can match electronics, select the tweeter setting, and position the cabinets and seats so the passive-radiator bass works with the room.
